FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
5 June 2026 — World Environment Day
The Greenest Thing You Can Do Is Think Clearly.
Australia's first verified vehicle carbon offset membership launches today — built on the conviction that care, thought, and process matter more than the car you drive.
MELBOURNE, 5 JUNE 2026 — The electric vehicle has been sold to Australians as the answer. It is not the whole answer — and for 21 million drivers, it may not be the honest one.
Manufacturing an electric vehicle produces more carbon than a decade of filling a tank. The batteries rely on cobalt mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo — one of the most environmentally and ethically compromised supply chains on earth. Lithium extraction in Chile's Atacama Desert consumes up to 2 million litres of water per tonne — draining one of the world's most ancient and irreplaceable water reserves. In a country where water is life, that is not a footnote. That is a reckoning.
The electricity grid that charges these vehicles still runs, in large part, on coal. None of this appears in the brochure.
Project Zero Impact — PZI — was founded on a different proposition: that the most responsible thing a driver can do is not necessarily to buy something new. It is to take genuine, verified, measurable responsibility for the vehicle they already own.
PZI launches today on World Environment Day as Australia's first verified vehicle carbon offset membership. For less than fifty cents a day, members fund a real, verified plantation that removes carbon from the atmosphere, cleans the air, raises water tables, restores habitat, and compounds benefit for generations.
Every certificate is registered permanently on the international Verra public registry — in the member's name. A handcrafted bamboo badge arrives within ten days. Verified. Permanent. Visible.
This year's World Environment Day theme — Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future — asks one question: what signal will you send? The badge on your window is that signal.
“The most sustainable vehicle is the one already built. We will never tell you your car is carbon neutral. What we will tell you is that your membership funds genuine, growing, verified progress — and that a forest does far more than absorb carbon. It gives back for the next hundred years.”
