Sustainable Energy Powered Onsite
1. Ocean Carbon Capture (OCC)
Direct removal of CO2 from seawater using advanced filtration and chemical processes. Ocean water contains 50 times more dissolved CO2 than the atmosphere. OCC systems extract this carbon and either store it permanently or convert it into useful materials like building components, supporting our conservation efforts.
How it Works:
- Seawater is processed through specialised equipment
- CO2 is separated and captured
- Treated water is returned to the ocean
- Captured carbon is permanently stored or utilised
Benefits:
- Massive scale potential - oceans hold vast carbon reserves
- Doesn't compete with land use
- Can operate continuously
- Helps reduce ocean acidification, aiding in the protection of endangered species.
Direct Air Capture (DAC)
Industrial-scale machines that pull CO2 directly from ambient air using chemical filters and temperature processes. Think of it as giant vacuum cleaners for carbon dioxide, contributing to sustainable practices.
How it Works:
- Large fans draw air through chemical filters
- CO2 binds to special materials
- Heat releases pure CO2 for permanent storage
- Clean air is released back to atmosphere
Benefits:
- Works anywhere - no location restrictions
- Removes legacy emissions already in the atmosphere
- Scalable technology with improving efficiency
- Permanent carbon removal when combined with storage
PZI's Future Integration: Both technologies will complement our reforestation programs, creating a comprehensive carbon removal strategy that addresses atmospheric CO2 from multiple angles - natural and technological solutions working together for sustainable practices.
